St. Albert Impact Girls Soccer TripIt’s amazing how much you can experience in just one week. During the St. Albert Impact girls soccer trip to Costa Rica, the team did enough in their seven days abroad to impact their lives forever.

On their first day in Costa Rica, the team hit the ground running, with a brief orientation followed by a walking tour of San Jose. It was an excellent opportunity to get to know a bit about the culture they would be immersed in for the next week.

The girls couldn’t believe that the city they were in was right next to an active volcano. The next day, we took them to the Irazu Volcano National Park, where the team was able to walk the edge of the volcano’s crater. Talk about a once in a lifetime experience!

Day 2 culminated in the team’s first friendly match against Codea Alajuela. While the match ended in a loss for the Impact team, the game was a challenge they were excited to face, and they left the field at the end of the day having seen plenty of new skills that they couldn’t wait to master as a team.

The following day was jam-packed with activities. After enjoying a delicious breakfast, the girls made their way to a local children’s center for their first community service project. The center serves underprivileged children from impoverished families, providing healthy meals and an education that they would otherwise be unable to access. The children loved spending time with the girls!

The scenery was beautiful, and the team enjoyed a cooling dip in the waters before before heading back into the city for friendly match #2.

Costa Rica Soccer Tours always makes sure to include plenty of challenging soccer matches against local teams, many of which are professional. Impact’s second match ended in another loss, but the competition was very close. The team was proud of the way they performed against such an experienced international team, especially since rain and chilly weather made conditions far from idea.

In addition to a second community service activity, in which the Impact girls held a soccer clinic for a group of underprivileged children, the team spent plenty of time lounging on the beach, soaking in the sunset during a catamaran tour along the Pacific coast, and even a team training session with a coach from a professional Costa Rican team.
