The Frostburg State Women’s Soccer trip to Costa Rica was an incredible learning experience, from the moment they set foot off the airplane to their final beach training session.
Costa Rica Soccer Tours knew that the team was looking for a good challenge combined with a great education. Their first team training session was planned after their welcome orientation on their first day in San Jose.
After a night of resting, the team wrapped up training session #2 before partaking in a walking tour of San Jose. The capital of Costa Rica has so much to offer, including a National Museum, Central Park, and even a local souvenir shop where the team could pick up gifts for their family back home.
They fueled up on a quick lunch before getting read for their very first friendly match against Moravia. This highly disputed match was an exciting one to watch, with ball possession split 50/50 throughout the entire game. Most of the action was on the midfield, with very few shots on goal as each team played aggressively and fearlessly. Unfortunately, Frostburg lost the match 1-2, but they learned quite a bit about the developments of women’s soccer in Costa Rica over the past 10 years, and couldn’t wait for their next match in a few short days!
From a community service activity assisting children in need living in extreme poverty, to educational tours around Costa Rica’s stunning rainforests, to two more friendly matches, this entire trip was filled with plenty of educational moments and unforgettable memories. We were thrilled to work with the women of Frostburg State!
