Rowan University sent their Women’s Soccer Team on a weeklong trip to Costa Rica. After two days of training sessions, the team ventured out to the streets of San Jose, where they enjoyed an informative tour of the capital city and even got to shop for souvenirs at a local market.

Day 2 culminated with a friendly against Moravia. Rowan acquainted themselves well to the different style of play and scored three first half goals on their way to a convincing victory.

The next two days were jam-packed with adventures in all corners of the country. After completing a community service project with a local school for impoverished children, Rowan made their way into the San Carlos Rainforest, where they hiked to the La Fortuna Waterfall before taking a relaxing dip in a mineral hot water spring surrounded by tropical gardens.

On day four, after a zip-line tour over the rainforest canopy, the team geared up for their second friendly match against another very skilled local team. After competing so hard in their game, the women deserved a break! They transferred to the Pacific Beach and enjoyed an afternoon soaking up the sun on the sands of the Costa Rican coast.

With one more friendly match left, the team made sure to squeeze in plenty of training while on the beach. Practicing soccer on a sandy turf adds a whole new element to the game, and the girls were really able to hone their control skills. It was the perfect warm up for their final match against Liberia.
