Belmont Hill decided to send their boys’ soccer team on a 9-day trip to Costa Rica. Most of their time was spent in the rainforest, playing against elite local teams and honing in on their skills during team training sessions on the beach.

Jorge MontoyaIn between matches and practices, there was plenty of time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The team went white water rafting, soared across the rainforest canopy on a zip line tour, and hiked through the rainforest to hidden waterfalls.

The last few days of the trip were spent in San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica. While there, the boys participated in an educational discussion about the politics, economy, and society in Costa Rica. They were able to apply the knowledge they had learned during their walking tour of the city, where they had the chance to visit the Costa Rican Museum of Art.

The trip culminated in a hike near an active volcano, a trip to a coffee plantation, and a tour of a local farmer’s market.

By the end of the trip, the Belmont Hill boys had learned about so much more than soccer. They had learned about an entirely different culture and way of life; all incredible lessons for a high school soccer team to learn.
