The North Shore Girls Soccer Club ssoccer trip to Costa Rica lasted nine days. In that short period of time, the Fusion U15 team learned that the competition might be fierce, but the people, places, and activities available to them were life-changing. The team had a total of 4 competitive matches against local teams Dimas, Codea and Liberia.
Costa Rica Soccer Tours scheduled several days of team training, where the girls were able to gather and practice a few new techniques and plays. However, their time in Costa Rica wasn’t all about soccer. We had a completely customized trip planned out for them – each day was a brand new adventure!
One of the highlights of the NSGSC trip was their community service activity. They held a very special soccer clinic for children living in extreme poverty, where they were able to share a few tricks of their own with the young children.
After the clinic, the girls played games with the young children, including a very exciting three-legged race and a fast-paced wheelbarrow race across the pitch. The Fusion girls and the children they worked with had a blast, and enjoyed learning about different cultures and playing fun new games.
The girls also spent time in the heart of the rainforest, relaxing in hot water springs and hiking to the La Fortuna waterfall for a day of swimming. They also prepared a very special soccer clinic for underprivileged children in a local rural community.
Even with all these activities, the team was able to find time for training sessions plus two additional friendly matches. The coaching staff and players were very happy with the improvement shown throughout the trip.
From catamaran trips along the coastline, to snorkeling adventures in the ocean, to a relaxing day spent on the beach, the remainder of Fusion’s time in Costa Rica was nothing short of incredible. The girls traveled back to Canada after nine days of adventures with a lifetime of memories.
